Why I Went Greek, Why I Went Alpha Gam

Image
Why I Went Greek, Why I Went Alpha Gam AGD Informal Girls 2017 In February of 2017 I joined the Alpha Gamma Delta chapter at Ohio University and loved it.  I had originally gone through formal recruitment in the Fall of my freshman year but was unable to finish due to having to go home.  I knew Alpha Gam was where I wanted to be so when informal recruitment came around the next semester I took my chance and got my bid!  I met amazing girls who also went through informal with me.  By joining my sorority I was able to open doors that I didn't know were there.  I live with some of my informal girls now and I am .  They have become my people.  I hadn't seen that the people around me and in my classes were people I could call my best  friends, my sisters! My roommate Maddie (she's just awesome)! Deciding to go through recruitment is a tough process on its own, on top of how much work and time goes into recruitment.  Knowing if you wan...

A Weekend in Roma

Image
At 7AM on Friday, May 25, 2018, my study abroad class met our spectacular professor so we could board a train to Rome.  With our backpacks, all sixteen of us climbed on to the train ready for our first overnight weekend trip, unsure of what would happen! Once arrived in Rome we dropped our backpacks off at the Hotel Atlantico where we would stay that weekend  and started venturing through the city.  We walked to the Spanish Steps, the Caravaggio in S. Lugi  dei Francesi Church, to the Pantheon, Museum and Crypt of Capuchin Monks and of course the Trevi Fountain to throw our coins!  Now the Museum and Crypt of Capuchin Monks is not something many have heard of so I will elaborate a little on what exactly this crazy  museum really was!  The museum didn't allow taking pictures but just imagine real bones all over.  The bones seemed a bit blackened because of all the the time that had passed which just made them creepier to me.  The chandelie...

My Top 10 Favorite Instagram Bloggers

Image
Like most people today, I LOVE Instagram!  I use it personally to post my fun photos of my average Ohio lifestyle but also I use Instagram to follow well known bloggers and fashionistas.  Here are my ten favorite Instagram ladies who I look to the most when it comes to style, tips, and inspiration for my own Instagram! 1. BRE @bresheppard She's adorable and I love her style.  Bre lives in the Seattle area and shares a lot of great tips on her makeup routine and clothing items to buy.  She has great style that isn't over the top or super expensive which as a college student I appreciate!  Bre is definitely my #1 !  P.S. Her husband and her are adorable together also! 2. Tezza @tezzamb Love, love, love Tezza!  Her husband is her photographer as they travel around the world, plus she's got great style.  Tezza has amazing pictures which is important for content and is always creative. 3. Emily Shakgough @emilyshak She's Scottish/Lebanese ...

To That "Friend," You Can't Bring Me Down Anymore

Image
A letter to the people we thought were our friends but only needed us to feel better about themselves. In the United States, there is approximately 37,100 high schools spread amongst the 50 states. The high schools in Hawaii to New Jersey to Iowa are all different of course. Past those differences each state has, the students all are typically the same. In each high school we have the group everyone wants to be in because they are "popular," then there is the group of smarter kids, the people who somewhat keep to themselves, and the social butterflies who have friends within every area of the social hierarchy. I am not here to talk about this imaginable hierarchy though. I would like to say a few things to those in high school who needed me in order to feel better about themselves. In every high school, in every group there is a person who depends on others to feel good about themselves, this letter is for those people. First off, I wish you luck on wherever life i...

As We All Return Home

Image
What has changed in this past year? Will those streets still sing your "late night" songs with you? A year ago we were all graduating with lots of hope and high aspirations for how our first year of college would go. We walked in lines to the catchy graduation tune with high spirits, wondering what life would be like in a year. Well now that year has passed and we are all returning to our home towns. We've each experienced a year like no other at our chosen university. Some have had the best year of their lives, whether that means partying until the sun rose every weekend or achieving the Dean's List. Others may have struggled as they experienced a year they had hoped would have gone better. Either way we all are congregating back to our old hometowns. For many this can be good because we will get to see our families, old friends we've missed, and of course our pets! At the same time. we are leaving this place we now call home and the friendships we have ma...
