The Ice Cream Parlor You Must Go To - Cincinnati, OH
Back in the days of poodle skirts and no cell phones, friends and families gathered in ice cream parlors to have a treat and chat. Since the trending CW TV show Riverdale has brought the love of diners and milkshakes back I found myself searching for a quaint ice cream shop for myself. I started my hunt around the greater Cincinnati area and found Aglamesis Brothers, a family ran, turn-of-the-century parlor. They offer homemade ice cream, candy and sandwiches at two locations.
While driving in the Montgomery area, it would be easy to pass Aglamesis Brothers parlor but once you stop and go inside you’ll be grateful you caught the sign. Inside, the shop is set up just like a parlor from the 1950’s. Pink and cream wallpaper and awnings with antique chandeliers and tables. It is truly a step back in time when walking into Aglamesis Brothers. You are not just being taken back to the poodle skirt era but also through the Aglamesis family history.
The Aglamesis family opened their first ice cream parlor in 1908 in Norwood, Cincinnati. Since then the family has used the same recipes which customers seem to love. Aglamesis Brothers has been recognized The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Cincinnati Enquirer, The History Channel, The Food Network and Bon Appetite magazines for their ice cream and chocolates. Currently members of the second and third generation of the Aglamesis Family run the two ice cream parlors on Madison Road and Montgomery Road in Cincinnati, Ohio. Stop in and get a sundae with your friends, don’t forget the hot fudge!
